Insider debuts digital covers for the first time with inaugural cover star, Serena Williams

Today, Insider reveals its first-ever digital cover story with its inaugural cover star, Serena Williams.

The debut marks the beginning of a series for Insider centered around culturally-relevant themes.

Each cover will touch on meaningful topics from mental health and LGBTQ pride to diversity and heritage, will be tied to key moments throughout the year, and will feature an exclusive talent profile and original photography.

Insider’s mission is to deliver unmissable, purpose-led journalism for smart ambitious people who want to accelerate progress and make life better. These cover stories are for and about those diverse, progressive, and goal-oriented individuals.

“With the launch of our digital celebrity covers, we are thrilled to bring to our audience – more than 250 million across the globe – a closer look at the personalities they care most about. We’re delighted to work with some of the world’s top photographers, whose images are as compelling and revealing as the storytelling that has come to define the Insider brand. Insider is so proud to have Serena Williams as our inaugural digital cover profile. We want to acknowledge the team that made our launch so successful, including writer Sylvia Obell, photographer Joshua Kissi, creative director Liane Radel, and editor Joi-Marie McKenzie, as well as the larger Insider team that assisted with the project.”

In our inaugural issue featuring the tennis icon, Williams reveals ambitions far beyond the court. She gets real about mom guilt and how she deals with those who doubt her, whether about her tennis career or her investment firm Serena Ventures, which raised $111 million for its initial fund and focuses on a diverse group of founders.

Additional cover stories will be released throughout 2022.
