Emily Hochberg named editor of Insider’s revamped travel vertical

United Airlines is exclusive launch partner and will sponsor destination coverage inspired by airline’s sought-after travel routes

Insider today announces that Emily Hochberg is the new Editor of its newly revamped vertical, Insider Travel. The must-visit resource for travel has expanded features and coverage including inspiration, practical advice, and must-see and do activities — all from a local perspective.

Hochberg now leads a team of 20 travel experts from around the globe who will spotlight new destinations each week to help readers plan their next trip. The expanded vertical includes details on how to get to a destination, where to stay, what to see, eat and drink, and exclusive photography.

For the past two years, Hochberg launched and led all travel coverage for Insider Reviews, the company’s commerce content brand. Prior to joining Insider, she was Managing Editor for the travel app Porter & Sail and wrote and edited content covering travel, lifestyle, and entertainment for outlets such as MTV, Scott’s Cheap Flights, FabFitFun, Xfinity, Secret Escapes, People Magazine, Redfin, and many more.

The vertical also includes an “Explore the World” feature, which will enable readers to search through more than 250 destinations to find inspiration for their next trip. The new feature populates a mosaic of images specific to the selected destination for readers to clickthrough and discover Insider's travel guides, advisories, reviews, and recommendations.

“Our reporters are passionate about their cities and know them intimately. Their advice provides an authentic point-of-view that internet searches just can’t match,” says Hochberg. “We want to be your coolest ‘in-the-know’ traveler friend, the one who’s generously sharing their local secrets — from the best places to stay to the hole-in-the-wall restaurant gems that somehow have managed to fly below-the-radar.”

The revamped travel vertical expands on the scope of Insider’s award-winning travel coverage — whose reach has grown more than 600 percent this year. United Airlines is the exclusive launch partner of the vertical and will present stories of multiple destinations serviced by the airline.

“As we start to travel again after so many months at home, Insider is ready to help readers regain their sense of adventure and inspire their wanderlust,” shares Julie Zeveloff West, Editor-in-chief of the Life division at Insider. “There’s no better person to guide readers along their next journey than Emily, who brings many years of experience as a travel expert and a real passion for helping people explore their world.”

Adweek recognized Insider as “Hottest in Travel” for three consecutive years in 2017, 2018, and 2019. To visit the new Insider Travel, Insider readers and subscribers can visit insider.com/travel.
